Our Story

From a Specialized Startup to a Global Language Solutions Partner

1965

Early Foundations

Our story began in 1965, when our founder, Carles Gisbert, set up the company to translate telecommunications documentation from Swedish into Spanish. What started as a focused service quickly grew, driven by a clear business vision and a strong interest in working across borders.

From early on, we looked for ways to work more efficiently and connect with linguists beyond our immediate network. Tools such as dictation systems and fax machines helped improve workflows and expand our reach. As technology evolved, so did the way we worked — from floppy disks and postal deliveries to modems and eventually the internet. Each step made collaboration easier and project delivery faster.

1980s

Pioneers in Translation Technology

This openness to new ways of working naturally led us toward technology. Early on, we saw that IT systems would play an important role in documentation and translation, and we established our own R&D function to explore what was possible.

In the early 1980s, we developed Transbase, one of the first Translation Memory systems. At a time when such tools were not yet widely used, this allowed us to reuse previously translated content and improve both efficiency and consistency.

Technology has remained a central part of how we work ever since, with continuous improvements to support quality, scalability, and process efficiency.

1990s

Global Growth and Expansion

As the company grew, we began expanding beyond our original markets. Over time, we established a network of offices that allows us to stay close to our customers while working across regions and industries.

The expansion began with the opening of our Brussels office in 1992. This was followed by further growth in Sweden, including our Gothenburg office in 2004. In 2005, we established operations in Warsaw, strengthening our presence in Central Europe, and in 2006 we opened our first German office in Rüsselsheim.

In 2007, we continued expanding with the launch of our Barcelona office, followed later that year by our Shanghai office. This allowed us to better support Asian languages and work more closely with customers operating globally. In 2008, we opened our Detroit office, extending our presence to North America. More recently, in 2022, we opened an office in Mexico City, further strengthening our footprint in the Americas.

Today, this global network enables us to support a wide range of industries while maintaining close and long-term customer relationships.

2000s

Connected and Collaborative by Design

As our teams became more distributed, collaboration across locations became increasingly important. As early as 2005, we adopted video conferencing as a primary way of working — long before it became standard.

This decision shaped how we operate today. It allows us to stay connected across offices and time zones and to work together as one organization, regardless of location.

2020s

Engineering the Future: AI and Beyond

Today, the language industry is changing rapidly, driven by developments in artificial intelligence and large language models.

We continue to integrate these technologies into our workflows in a practical and structured way, combining them with human expertise. Our latest generation Language Technology Platform brings together the different stages of the translation process and supports efficient, scalable, and consistent delivery.

Alongside this platform, we have developed a range of complementary tools, including customer portals, terminology systems, and integration solutions that help connect our services with customer environments.

Building on our R&D capabilities, we continue to develop proprietary, customer-focused AI solutions that improve quality, increase efficiency, and support evolving customer needs.

2025

Looking Ahead

Our development has always been shaped by a focus on improving the way we work — making processes more efficient, results more consistent, and collaboration easier.

As we continue to evolve, this focus remains the same. We combine expertise, structured processes, and technology to support our customers in managing global communication in an increasingly complex and connected world.
